Benedict XVI slaps faces of victims by sending Cardinal Regali as his envoy to the Czech Republic…while 37 Philadelphia rapists-priests are active

At the height of the Liturgical year of the Holy Week, the Successor of Peter keeps on making a spectacle fool of himself by showing his callousness and cold-heartedness towards the hundreds of thousands of victims of the John Paul II Pedophiles Rapists-Priests Army, and now he papal farts at the current victims of the 37 rapists-priests of Philadelphia under the watchful eyes of Cardinal Regali.

During Holy Week last year, Benedict XVI made a spectacle fool of himself at St. Peter’s Square by announcing that it is “Cheap Gossip” what the New York Times was exposing of his personal in the cover-up of pedophile priests. Read our related article here http://pope-ratz.blogspot.com/2010/07/new-york-times-church-office-failed-to.html And now on the eve of the Beatification of John Paul II, he makes a spectacle fool again of himself by appointing Cardinal Regali as his papal envoy to the Czech Republic in June. Isn’t’ there a Beatles song called The Fool on the Hill? That should be Benedict XVI’s theme song, “the fool on the hill, the Vatican hill”.

Benedict XVI is following the exact footsteps of his predecessor John Paul II who proved that he was the greatest autocrat ruler on earth and that his papal powers are absolute and final especially when he elevated the disgraced Cardinal Bernard Law as Archpriest of the St. Mary Major. John Paul II wanted to prove that he was the boss over the laity and after we Bostonians successfully forced Cardinal Law to resign, John Paul II slapped our faces – papal farted at victims -- by promoting Cardinal Law to be the High Priest of the ‘mother of all basilicas in Rome’. John Paul II was obsessed with his legacy as John Paul II the Great and that no Cardinal and no priest must resign under his 27 years papacy. Cardinal Bernard Law confessed in public that he transferred and covered-up 80 pedophiles rapists priests in Boston, he went to do the usual Vatican penance formula of “prayer in a nuns’ monastery” (which Bishop Roger Vangheluwe in Belgium is now doing after he confessed to sodomizing his nephew for 13 years, not one but two nephews read our related article The narcissism and grandiosity of John Paul II, Cardinal Bernard Law, Benedict XVI, and Bishop Roger Vangheluwe are nauseating and despicable http://jp2m.blogspot.com/2011/04/narcissism-and-grandiosity-of-john-paul.html

So in this Holy Week, same as in last year’s Holy Week (read our coverage Anti-Semitism card & the Vatican defense circus for Benedict XVI the guilty despot of 1.2 billion Catholics the people in denial http://pope-ratz.blogspot.com/2010/04/anti-semitism-card-vatican-defense.html), Benedict XVI is making a spectacle fool of himself at the Vatican Hill as he appoints Cardinal Justin Regali of Philadelphia as his special envoy to the Czech Republic considering that Regali has covered-up and is protecting more than 37 active rapists-priests. Cardinal Justin Regali said nothing about them and covered-up his team of pedophiles priests (because of the Seal of the Sacrament of Confession which protects predators and criminals) so it had to take a secular (Benedict XVI’s archenemy is secularism) lay-people (not canon priests lawyers) grand jury in Philadelphia to reveal 37 rapists-priests to the public and force Philadelphia’s Cardinal Justin Regali to suspend 26 priests of them, read our related article Philadelphia’s 37 rapists-priests under Cardinal Justin Regali’s cover-up document: Archdiocese of Philadelphia – Prohibition to Release Information http://jp2army.blogspot.com/2011/03/philadelphias-37-rapists-priests-under.html. That‘s a lot of priests to suspend in one shot especially in this much-needed Holy Week and Easter services. But priests who are suspended from active ministry are still free to prowl and sodomize innocent children.

The only time rapists-priests can no longer harm children is when they are in jail, a secular jail, not in some monastery or convent or public church where they continue to dress as holy shepherds while in reality they are wolves predators of gullible children. There should also be a Catholic Registry of Pedophiles and Pederasts Priests. The band-aid solution of prayers, medals and kissing crucifixes and bowing to statues and an hour of psychological treatment will not protect children and will not prevent rapists-priests from prowling and sodomizing more children.

NATIONAL SURVIVOR ADVOCATES COALITION (NSAC) STATEMENT

PHILADELPHIA (PA)
National Survivor Advocates Coalition

We deplore Pope Benedict’s naming of Cardinal Justin Rigali as his special envoy to a church celebration in the Czech Republic in June.

Is there no shame at the Vatican even in Holy Week?

We apologize to the survivors for the hurt this slap in the face inflicts on them today.

We call upon Catholics in Philadelphia to show their response to this new affront by closing their wallets to the Easter collection.

Honoring a Cardinal who left credibly accused priests in ministry and even when forced by major publicity to remove them withheld their names can’t be the message of Holy Week.

SNAP responds to the Pope's new appointment for Rigali

Pope Benedict has named Philadelphia's Cardinal Justin Rigali as a special envoy to a church celebration in the Czech Repubilc in June. Members of the Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests are crying foul.

Rigali will head to the Czech Republic June 18 for the bicentennial celebration of the birth of St. John Nepomuceno Neumann.

SNAP likens the decision to rubbing salt in wounds. "Vatican officials are either incredibly stupid - and no one believes that – or incredibly callous," reads a statement from SNAP.

The advocacy group says the Pope should have chosen a different cardinal to represent the church, given the current charges against Rigali and says the decision to send him emphasizes the gap between what the Catholic Church says and does regarding child sex abuse cover-ups.

# Laws need to change — Judy Block-Jones 2011-04-18 14:42
This pontifical act by the pope makes it clear that the better you are at keeping their predator priests moved around and/or kept in parishes and have access to children, the more you cover up their horrible sex crimes against kids, the more you ignore the laws of the land, and the more you are able to continue to get away with it, AND especially if you are able to keep doing this without getting yourself in jail..
YOU get promoted, honored, and given to luxurious life styles, by the POPE..

Can anybody understand HOW this is allowed to continue to happen? Can anyone see what the heck is wrong with this picture? Can anyone see that it is time to change the archaic statute of limitations for sex crimes, so that these enablers can be put behind bars? THEN and only THEN will the pope not be able to continue to give these church officials honors... Even the pope would have a hard time getting him out of jail.

# Rigali - Regale - Regalia — SKIADVOCAT 2011-04-18 14:45
What an outrage! Let's honor and/or recognize the leader of one of the largest Catholic archdioceses in the United States whose leadership has been the target of three Grand Jury Investigations by the District Attorney of the City of Philadelphia. Hollywood could never write this script; only Satan can be responsible for such evil, hypocrisy, hubris and deceit.

And, even as we struggle with this insult to the victims of clergy sexual abuse and their families, the Philadelphia Catholic faithful are greeted with yet another arrest of an employee in the Archdiocesan high school system. This coach/athletic director at Archbishop Carroll H.S. in Radnor, PA has been charged by the Montgomery County D.A.’s office with Unlawful Contact or Communication with a Minor, Promoting Prostitution, Corruption of Minors, Attempted Corruption of Minors, and related offenses.

According to Montgomery County D.A. Risa Vetri Ferman, “The coach suggested he could be this boy’s ‘sugar daddy.’”

With such immediate concerns re the safety and protection of the children in our archdiocese, one would think that Cardinal Rigali should remain here, meet with the faithful, and tell parishioners specifically what is being done to protect our young Catholics. We all know that such an action will not happen; what will happen is that Cardinal Rigali will travel as a special envoy to the Czech Republic this June. At the Czech church celebration, Cardinal Rigali will regale all in his regalia !

# Who else could go? — Thatgirl122 2011-04-18 15:09
I understand that the pope would consider it logical to send the current archbishop cardinal of Philadelphia to the celebration of the first bishop of the archdiocese. But the move comes across as completely tone-deaf and disrespectful in an atmosphere where that very archdiocese is under fire for a tradition of abuse by the ordained and hierarchy against vulnerable children and their faithful families.

John Neumann had ties to Baltimore, New York and Pittsburgh during his ministry in the USA as well as to Philadelphia. Maybe the pope could have sent someone from those areas rather than Rigali who is in the legal and media hot seat.

On the other hand, from what I have seen of at least 20 years of unfolding scandals for the Roman Catholic Church, the only likely difference between sending Rigali from Philly or Zubik from Pittsburgh is whether or not a Grand Jury has been empaneled yet.

Sending Rigali under current circumstances, would certainly besmirch the reputation of the very man the Czechs are trying to celebrate. Is that any way to honor a saint? By sending a representative who is using every imaginable legal and psych-ops tactic to systematically hide, transfer and cover up for rapists of children?

# If it looks like a duck... — Anne Costa 2011-04-18 15:24
Here we go again with the same denial, hubris and lack of integrity on display for all the world to see. With the appointment of Cardinal Rigali as Special envoy we see again the massive discoonect of the Church heirarchy with the virtues of Truth and righteousness. Why would we expect anything different?? True repentance requires contrition, humility and a desire to avoid future sin. Church leadership is coming up short on all three.

# The Pope is clueless — softran 2011-04-18 16:34
Is Pope Benedict the victim of poor staff work? Haven't his advisors briefed him on the extraordinarily serious clergy sex-abuse situation in Philadelphia?

This appointment of Cardinal Rigali as a special envoy is more than surprising. It's shocking and very, very stupid.

# What are the Pope and Vatican hierarchy smoking? — Jeb Barrett 2011-04-18 17:05
I do hope the willful and reckless disregard for the mental, physical and spiritual pain, and the welfare of children and also vulnerable adults will be embraced, believed and acted upon by those who call themselves Catholics or Christians of any variety. All people of any kind of faith, belief or trust in a transcendent power should be screaming "No, not another one! Don't you realize what this guy has done? Wake up, sleepers, feel the shame you are supposed to feel and stop honoring those responsible for continuing and criminal cover-up of sexual assault by priests, deacons, nuns, teachers, coaches, etc. working for and representing the once Holy Catholic Church." I can't imagine what drug makes it possible to live with such unquestionable guilt, but it must be strong. Whatever it is, someone needs to pull the plug on it, cut off the supply, so we can see some honestly, integrity and accountability. I am horrified by the appointment of Rigali to any kind of function, and totally outraged by the scheduled beatification of John Paul on May 1st. This man did as much harm as any pedophile in not investigating, covering up, not removing from priesthood and not reporting sexual abuse by his clergy to civil authorities. The RCC should be truly ashamed of ignoring these men's records.

# When will they begin to understand that human beings were affected by these men — nurse 2011-04-18 17:09
The appointment of this "Cardinal" Rigali as a special envoy only brings up more of the same old horrors that the catholic (?) church and its band of disconnected protected old men continue to display to the world. This pope is so insulated from the world as it really is that it is pathetic. As a victim of these "men of God" I am shocked, saddened and of course not surprised. They will never learn. Why should they have to change when they have the third world countries to believe in them.

Yes "Cardinal" Rigali is "special" He was deemed special when he abused these children, he was deemed special when he ran home to Il Papa so Il Papa would protect him. When will this band of old men really address the issues and stop rewarding these men for the atrocities done to children.

It IS time to remove the statute of limitations on child/teen sexual abuse by the clergy and by anyone. The mere fact that children/teens have no legal ability to assent to sexual behavior with an adult should repulse and repel any other adult in authority. There is a shortage of priests now and without a doubt will be more of a shortage in the future as who, in their right mind, would want to be part of this fraternity of insulated, cruel, and massively disconnected to the world group?

# Their 'special" club — PaddyM 2011-04-18 17:33
Why do these "men" protect each other? Is it a rite of passage to have"sex"with young boys? Why can't the Pontif step up and police the ranks?

# Child Abuse — johndt 2011-04-18 17:50
In all dysfunctional families with child abuse parents deny all abuse and use their might to get their own way. Here you have galloping spiritual pride coupled with malignant self love.

# Cardinal Rigali at the bicentennial of St. John Neumann — mporiordan 2011-04-18 23:27
At the bicentennial of St. John Neumann we recall what Pope Paul VI said in his homily at Bishop Neumann's canonization in 1977: "John Neumann’s pastoral zeal was manifested in many ways. . . . He helped children to satisfy their need for truth, their need for Christian doctrine, for the teaching of Jesus in their lives. He did this both by catechetical instruction and by promoting, with relentless energy, the Catholic school system in the United States. . . .

And who can fail to admire all the loving concern that John Neumann showed for God’s people, through his priestly ministry and his pastoral visitations as a Bishop? He deeply loved the Sacrament of Reconciliation: and like a worthy son of Saint Alphonsus he transmitted the pardon and the healing power of the Redeemer into the lives of innumerable sons and daughters of the Church. He was close to the sick; he was at home with the poor; he was a friend to sinners. And today he is the honor of all immigrants, and from the viewpoint of the Beatitudes the symbol of Christian success." http://www.vatican.va/holy_father/paul_vi/homilies/1977/documents/hf_p-vi_hom_19770619_en.html May God, at his intercession, send us leaders worthy of him.

# THE ARCHDIOCESE OF PHILADELPHIA — Maureen Turlish 2011-04-19 07:24
In February, 2011 a second Grand Jury Report on the Archdiocese of Philadelphia was released and it shows just how little has actually been done by the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, AKA Cardinal Justin Rigali, regarding known sexual predators - rogue priests.

FIVE ARRESTS WERE MADE AS A RESULT OF THAT RELEASE.

Msgr. William Lynn for the ENDANGERMENT OF CHILDREN,

TWO OTHER PRIESTS INCLUDING BRENNAN AND ENGALHARDT OSFS, ONE DEFROCKED PRIEST, AVERY AND ONE LAY TEACHER, SHERO.

Then Justin uses LEGALEZE to say that there are no "admitted, etc.," sexual predators in ministry.

Then Justin removes twenty, more or less, priests from ministry. He doesn't publicly name them or say in what parishes they are.

Then, a little later on, he romoves three more. Still no names.

BUT THEY ARE ALL ALLOWED TO WALK AROUND IN THEIR CLERICALS AND SO PASS THEMSELVES OFF AS "GOOD PRIESTS."

Then, with the Archdiocese of Philadelphia going absolutely down the tubes and the most sacred week of the liturgical years begins -

Instead of being removed as Philadelphia's cardinal archbishop for WHAT HE HAS DONE AND WHAT HE HAS FAILED TO DO since the release of the 2005 Philadelphia Grand Jury Report -

and to say NOTHING about the 2011 Philadelphia Grand Jury Report -

Pope Benedict XVI has chosen Justin Rigali as his special envoy to the bicentennial celebration of the birth of St. John Neumann being held in the Czech Republic in June.

What chutzpah!

US bishops to discuss Philadelphia abuse scandal

PHILADELPHIA (PA)
Catholic Culture
April 20, 2011

When the US bishops meet in June, they will discuss “whether there was some sort of the breakdown of the system” in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, according to Bishop Blase Cupich of Spokane, chairman of the bishops’ Committee for the Protection of Children and Young People.

Cardinal Justin Rigali has placed 26 priests on leave following the release of a February grand jury report that found that dozens of priests credibly accused of the abuse of minors remained in ministry.
